As much as I dislike shopping (yes! you heard that right) I'm quite the sucker for online shopping. The whole concept of having little neatly packaged goodies delivered right at your doorstep, unpacking them like birthday presents (even though you already know what's inside) warrants for brownie points, doesn't it? While im quite the loyalist on Flipkart, I've been trying to scout websites for wardrobe, accessories.... etc. Till Prateeksha introduced me to 2 of them - Fashion&You and Myntra.com. Ironically, Ive been registered on both but never used them until she put in a reliable word, so I thought i'd give it a shot. Orders placed, deliveries received and now here goes the good, bad and the ugly.
For the trial run, I wanted to go for something that was a safe bet but had a little risk to it too so that the real test of each site could come through. After what seemed like hours of a mall run, I narrowed down the purchases - A pair of Jeans and top from Fashion&You. A pair of sandals from Myntra. Why? Cause I figured, these two fall in the most difficult to buy categories, & if this could go right, anything else had to be smooth silk. So did it?
Choices - Fashion&You is mostly for the brand conscious with limited options, while Myntra has some multiple picks for all kind of budgets. Also F&Y has too many 'sold out' products online. So why not just take them off the catalogue?
Looks can be deceiving? - Online shoppers nightmare when the end product doesn't look like anything you had seen on the site; came true for me in the case of F&Y. While they've got their size chart all messed up, wish they'd use real models instead of mannequins for their catalog pictures. For you know, in case of Jeans, one size doesn't fit all! ! Happily, Myntra scored well in this too. I was having pangs of nervousness hoping that I've got the shoe size correct, and voila, it turned out to be just right! Moreso, after my little exchange of compliments with their super affable team on twitter, they've even introduced a convenient shoe-size chart *applause*
Round 1 undoubtedly goes to Myntra.com and I'm looking at going back soon. As for F&Y, maybe just maybe if there's an offer I just can't refuse. For now, trip to the local tailor awaits *sigh*
