Yay yayy! the 'Great wall of Mumbai' is back in all its glory and its all happening right near you err... ok! across town for all u burbs! but thats besides the point!! tch tch .. For all those who are new to this concept read further... Paint thy walls people.. What started as a small bandra group passion has grown bigger, better and fantabalistic over the past year! People+Paint+Art+Wall = Beautification of Mumbai. An unusual concept, an unusual story.
Heres what it is....Instead of the walls (public spaces) around Mumbai being plastered with posters, adverts, bills etc, the wall project in association with the BMC invited people and gave them a chance to express themselves thru art. One could use a section of the wall to paint almost anything that came to mind.. logos, messages, awareness, climate change, cleanliness, portraits or maybe just something you learnt in art class in school. The first event held on Aug15-16, 2009 was a complete success and the aftermath was a relief for sore eyes. And it has even moved to other cities.. calcutta, bglore..
Soo all u ppl who are in the city, pick up your palette, pot of paint or two & gather at the Tulsi Pipe Road on Sunday 30th May. Lets paint the town RED or blue or yellow or pink or purple.. .. u get the drift! :D
